I started laughing, looking to Orion to get her another one as she struggled to survive.

“Mr Indus has something to say,” Orion announced.

Elijah cleared his throat. The class waited attentively and some people sniggered. “I'm pathetic.”

“And?” Orion prompted.

Orion cocked his head, still waiting.

Elijah sighed. “And I'd like to apologise to you all for being an embarrassment to the school. And to Solaria. And to the entire race of Fae.”

“Congratulations Darius, you actually managed to do something useful for once,” Lionel Acrux’s voice smashed through our bubble of peace like a bucket of cold water.
