I hated the Nazi regime and rejected it completely, and yet I was well disposed toward these men. Despite my fervent prayers for their quick defeat and for the rescue of my family and my fellow Jews, I felt a remarkable affection for them. This must be completely incomprehensible to someone who sees things from a one-dimensional perspective.
