Arian Wulf

Rain of Arrows & Death

When Princess Nadia is told that she is to be married to Alpha Werewolf Damien Heartstone, she is very much against the idea. She knows nothing of the man other than the fact that he is a werewolf with little restraint. Rumor has it that he beheads the enemies that dare to challenge him. Territorial disputes are sometimes violent, but she had never heard of someone who reveled in it as much as he.

She is not left with a choice when the man appears in the castle an hour after her mother informs her of the marriage arrangement and she is whisked away immediately.

The last time she expects is to fall head over heel for the mysterious man who is nothing like the rumors had her believe. Damien is as kind as he is handsome and he is incredibly dashing. It is no hardship to fall for the man and she finds herself surrendering to him readily when her heat strikes unexpectedly.

Perhaps her future is not as bleak as she thought it would be.

The very next day, their party is attacked and her carriage is thrown off the cliff with her in it.

Anya dies and returns to the day she is informed of her marriage arrangement.

She must find a way to survive the ambush and save not just herself, but the man who she had given her heart to in the short time they are together.

~~~~~ PG Excerpt ~~~~~
What a stupid way to die, she thought to herself as she opened her eyes.
“Damien Heartstone, mother?” Anya exclaimed, her mouth moving on its own, the words forming with neither input nor conscious control of her mind. “Surely you jest,” she continued, though her brain was working on trying to figure out where she was and what was happening.
“Language, darling,” her mother responded with the infinite patience for her that only she possessed.
Anya had no idea what was happening, nor the inclination to question the miraculous nature that had somehow thrown her back to a time where she had not yet been thrown off a cliff into the jagged rocks beneath and met with a painful death at the hands of the man whom her parents had entrusted her with. The only thing she was certain of was that she had no desire to be victim to the same fate.
“Mother,” she said, her voice shaking as she tried to recall what she had said the last time. “Are you really going to marry me off to a man I know nothing about?” she asked.
Nadia rolled her eyes. “Anya, you know as well as I do that the Heartstone boy is a very genial young man — if a little rough around the edges,” she said like a broken record that was only capable of repeating the same things.
Anya had done this song and dance before and felt an urge to push her mother into saying something else. “Yes,” she said. “He is also in possession of valuable land that you and father are keen on keeping in our territory because it lays on the border that separates us and the Kingdom of Thrall,” she continued, her tone unimpressed, even a little bit betrayed. “Are you marrying me to him so that he does not marry a princess elsewhere? Am I just a pawn to you?”
Her mother looked pained that she would jump to such conclusions even though she had been the one to utter those things in her past life. “I'm sorry, darling,” Nadia said, surprising Anya in her sincerity. “You know as well as I do that your hold on the throne is precarious at best,” she said. “Without a strong man by your side, there is no guarantee that the officials would let you preside the kingdom.”
This uncertainty was new. Nadia had exuded only confidence in all the times she had been through this— All the-
What?
