When you’re shooting a movie, and Silent Control (Custom Function 2) is enabled, the Quick Control dial turns into a touch pad. Figuring this one out may take a few minutes, but when you get it, it’s not bad at all. When Silent Control is enabled and you are in the act of shooting, press the Quick Control button and then tap the Quick Control dial as if the surface of the dial were cross keys or arrows to change exposure settings and sound recording level (if Sound Recording is set to Manual). What you can change depends on what mode you are in. More on shooting movies and setting sound in Chapter 4.
