This dialogue-driven novel stars Pemrose Lorry as the main character, who is introduced to the readers as she greets the morning sun and stands upon the gray stone steps of a Lenox mansion and, looking up, answers the first lovely smile that young day flung down to her as, robed in pale pink and bluish bloom, it slowly climbed the eastern sky.
