Liking Jesus

our righteousness, our holiness, is based not on our good works but on our faith.

We are made holy by the righteousness of God through his sinless Son, Jesus.

To be holy means to be set apart, to be different.

because you are defined not by who follows you but by whom you follow.

Because you can’t help someone who needs help.
You can only help someone who wants help.

God made us to be in relationship with him. So our hearts are restless until they rest in him.

nomophobia is “the fear of being without a mobile device, or beyond mobile phone contact.”

Our culture says show yourself. Jesus says deny yourself.

Timothy Keller defines idolatry this way in his book Counterfeit Gods: “An idol is whatever you look at and say, in your heart of hearts, ‘If I have that, then I’ll feel my life has meaning, then I’ll know I have value, then I’ll feel significant and secure.’”

Becoming obsessed with what people think about you is the quickest way to forget what God thinks about you.
