Dan Kowalski is an American novelist and screenwriter based in Virginia. He writes thrillers and crime fiction. Kowalski is known for Suicide Bridge (2023), Family Feud (2024), Death by Misadventure (2025), and, most recently, Our Thing (2026). Several of his screenplays have been optioned by Hollywood production companies.
Kowalski’s first novel was Suicide Bridge (2023). The book is a psychological thriller centred on Michelle Rhodes, a recovering drug addict who begins to suspect murder after a co-worker’s apparent suicide.
Family Feud (2024) followed as his second novel. Death by Misadventure (2025) came next. His most recent book, Our Thing (2026), follows Mike DeFino, a dishonourably discharged Marine who arrives in New York and is drawn into the inner circle of rising crime boss Pete Amuso. As Mike takes on violent work, he comes under pressure from NYPD Lieutenant Frank Sasso, who wants to use him against the mob.
The story becomes more personal when the woman Mike is falling for becomes leverage. Our Thing is presented as a crime thriller about power, survival, loyalty, and the cost of leaving violence behind.
As a screenwriter, Kowalski develops grounded crime dramas and neo-noir thrillers. His scripts focus on flawed people placed under pressure. They often draw on true events, historical conflict, and moral compromise.
Kowalski is also the creator of Dan’s Docs, a YouTube channel devoted to true crime documentaries. The channel explores real cases, hidden histories, and the forces that shape criminal behaviour.
