Amanda Foody worked as a tax accountant before becoming a full-time writer. Foody debuted in 2017 with the novel Daughter of the Burning City, a darkly new fantasy set in the infamous Gomorrah Festival, a traveling carnival of debauchery that caters to the strangest of dreams and desires.
This standalone novel was followed by Ace of Shades, King of Fools, and The Shadow Game series. In 2021 Amazon selected All of Us Villains as the Best Young Adult Book.
Foody's works often feature strong female protagonists and complex world-building and deal with themes of power, identity, and self-discovery. She said her favorite authors who influenced her most were Shannon Hale, Erin Morgenstern, Rachel Hartman, Cornelia Funke, and Margaret Rogerson.
A Fate So Cold, her and C. L. Herman’s next YA duology, will publish in Winter 2024.
