Scott Sigler

Scott Sigler is an American author and podcaster known for his science fiction and horror work. His books include the Infected trilogy, the Ancestor and Galactic Football League series, and the Generations trilogy. In 2015, Alive, from the Generations series, reached #1 on the New York Times young adult e-book bestseller list. Sigler has won several Parsec Awards and was inducted into the Podcasting Hall of Fame in 2015.

Scott Sigler was born in Cheboygan, Michigan. He developed an early passion for monster stories, inspired by his father's love of classic films and his mother's encouragement of reading. He wrote his first story, "Tentacles, Tentacles & More Tentacles," at eight.

Sigler earned a BA in Journalism from Olivet College and a BS in Marketing from Cleary College. His career has included stints as a sports reporter, marketing director and musician before he turned his full attention to writing.

Sigler's debut novel, Earthcore (2001), was initially published by Time Warner as a promotional e-book. After the imprint closed, he podcasted Earthcore in 2005 as the world's first podcast-only novel, pioneering a new way of connecting with readers. The success of this format led to subsequent podcast releases of Ancestor (2007), Infected (2008) and The Rookie (2009). Ancestor debuted at number 7 on Amazon's bestseller list, even after being offered as a free e-book.

In 2014, Sigler signed with Ballantine Bantam Dell to publish the Generations trilogy, beginning with Alive. The young adult series explores themes of identity and survival. Sigler described it as "a story of resilience and leadership in the face of unknown dangers". The trilogy continued with Alight (2016) and Alone (2017).

Sigler also co-founded Empty Set Entertainment, which publishes the Galactic Football League series, which mixes sports and science fiction. The series includes The Rookie (2009), The Starter (2010) and subsequent titles, and has built a dedicated following of "Sigler Junkies". These fans have downloaded over 50 million podcast episodes, making Scott Sigler Slices the longest-running fiction podcast in the world.

Sigler's accolades include multiple Parsec Awards for works such as Red Man (2008) and Kissyman & the Gentleman (2011). He continues to engage his audience through weekly podcast episodes, saying, "Storytelling is a connection. I give them my best, and they give me their time".

With nineteen novels and numerous awards to his credit, Sigler's innovative approach to storytelling has reshaped the intersection of literature and digital media.
