Obviously, our past moulds us to a great extent, and we are products of that. But that doesn’t mean it has to shape our present, or even our future.

Instead of saying, ‘I’m like this because such and such happened to me,’ I prefer the statement, ‘This happened to me, but I’m not going to let it stop me from finding happiness.’

When you carry this old, heavy armour into every relationship, it’s as if you’re preparing for battle. It’s time to disarm, letting your body, mind, and spirit know that you are inviting love not war. The first step in doing so is to let go.
